its hard to think when your mind is cloudy due to flu. to kick start my brain, i would normally start with fun stuff but still require small brain power – like blogging

then, i go to medium hitters like drawing up mindmaps on what i need to do. after that, it should be ok. wish me luck.

i am having a flu now. it could be a byproduct of having to much of a good thing.

a week ago i was traveling to HK and it was cold there. maybe that’s why i have a cold

on sunday, i had a blast driving snow white on sepang track. maybe that’s why i have a cold

last week, i started my new job. maybe that’s why i have a cold

i will fell better tomorrow when work day starts

hobby

i would recommend that everybody has one hobby regardless of how cool, dangerous or lame it is. hobby keeps you sane.

to some, gardening is a hobby. they toil under the sun to grow things. the reward can be longer than normal but satisfaction is when they reap the fruit of their labor – literally

to some, golf is a hobby. they wake up at ungodly hour (i.e. 5am) to be at the golf course for tee off. there is no golf course too far or too difficult. its all part of the challenge. every time the ball goes into a hole, satisfaction is derived especially if the score is better than the other guy. more satisfaction if a bet is won.

to some, riding a bike is a hobby. my office is full of bikers. almost all my colleague rides with exception of myself and a couple of my team members. the satisfaction is when you finished the ride as safe as you started that morning. it is better if there are some stories to be shared over teh tarik.

to me, its taking snow white for a drive…hard. its the best feeling. i am enjoying life now. life is good

new year comes and goes. most people celebrate with a big bang and set lofty goals. i recommend the reverse. let’s look at 2012 from the new years eve of 2013. here are my predictions of 2012 headlines

WORLD NEWS
somebody important past away
some natural disaster happened
something cool got invented
porn will continue to dominate world wide web

LOCAL NEWS
general election happend and passed. a government is established
exam results shows continuous improvement in education standards
some politicians got caught on camera doing somehting kinky/wrong/bad/etc
traffic jam story continues every month
yada yada yada

hahahaha. above are the ones you cannot control. no matter what you do, they will happen. now going onto something that you CAN control.

now sit back, relax and zone out. imagine yourself at the eve of 31st Dec 2012 looking back at 2012 itself. what do you want to see?

the slimmer you?
the richer you?
the married you?
the happy you?
the succesful you?
the grumpy you?
the worldtraveller you?
the real you?

whatever that you will see then, remember, you decided today and you did it. thank me later.

how do you know that somebody in interested in you. when she stares at you, pay close attention to your words, laugh at your jokes, encourage you by asking more questions and basically have this ‘puppy look’ all thru the conversation.

i saw this right in front of me in this sandwich place. she is pretty and a bit young but hey, the signs are clear. some guys just have the x-factor

everyone is given a lifetime when they are born. granted, some lifetimes are longer than others and sometimes life is not fair. regardless, we all have one. how we decide to spend on that lifetime is our own decision.

some are born rich. they spend their lifetimes in greater comfort. some are born poor. they spend their time looking for happiness in their own way.

it’s coming to 2012 soon and i will be 43 in 9 months. reflecting on my past 42 years, it has been an adventure. i have gone thru a lot and that whats make me the way i am today. i like challenges. i like adventure. i like to experience and i like to share my experiences.

i have been poor. i have been sick. i have been worrying. i have lost love ones. i have made new ones. in all honesty, i am living a great life. i have been thinking how did i get here? here means being financially good, healthy and with many life opportunities. i can attribute this to few key fundamentals;

i bitch when things get tough, but i get on with life as quickly

i live with no regrets, the choices i made may not be the best but its mine and i take full responsibilities.

i look at live positively. things may get me down sometimes but i always see the brighter side of things

i am not scared easily. i lost ‘fear’ few years ago.

i believe in hard work. money don’t come easy and you must exchange hard work for financial security. there are no shortcuts

i believe in emotional support. a man don’t get where he is without strong emotional support

i believe in moderation. live life simple. don’t follow the crowd. make my own path.

i believe in setting personal goals. the one that sets my direction. the one that propel me when times are tough.

i believe all people are good. they are bad because how they react to environment differently.

i believe i should stop now and do some work

friends

in our lifetimes, friends comes and goes. we go thru phases in our lifetimes and in each phase, we migrate to a new group of friends.

in college days, our friends are our room mates and course mates. they may be from different races and background, but we stick together as we share the same aspirations and targets. it could be to complete the course or graduate with honors or going after the same group of girls.

we migrate to ‘new’ friends the day college ended.

we now are starting our career, our close friends may still be our college friends but as the career progresses, our life revolve around drinking or partying buddies or colleagues with similar interest or around the man or women we thought we love. college friends are just facebook friends at this moment.

then we make more money. it means we are on our way to leadership position in companies. we started to develop/cultivate hobbies that were too expensive in the past. some goes into cars scene. some into bikes scene. some into golf. some all three . with these hobbies, we develop new circle of friends. these are the people that we share experience/banter with during teh tarik sessions. the driving, diving, riding, golfing, gambling, flying and other experiences

then we got married. not gonna go there today! LOL

friends from college developed their own circle of friends. the friends that we knew early in our careers also developed their own group of friends and hobbies. point being, when we are finally reunited with the older friends, we may not be ‘aligned’ anymore as we don’t speak the same language and we don’t share the same interest. in fact, we might looked foreign to each other.

when this happens, we may decide to move on with our life’s.

in december 16 last year i talked about time. a year later i am confronted by the same thoughts – i need to decide how valuable my time is to me

after 2 months of leaving my old company, the boss saw the work done and recommended that i be a coo for this holding company. normally, i would jump for joy as this is what i was looking for as my career goal. today, i found myself not excited by this opportunity. have i gone bonkers?

here are some plausible explanations; maybe i have gone soft. maybe i have more important things to do. maybe i am getting too comfortable. maybe i am getting to be a slacker. maybe i am getting cold feet. maybe i am sacred of not having my time.

whatever the cause is, i need to find out quickly.

simple common sense. every new management will want to do it their way. mas management just made a decision to move to KLIA after many times of go,no-go,go,no-go decision. i hope this one is final. actually it does not matter what decision was made, just make one and move on. this will give the staff some stability and consistency.

the management is also asking to remove the business class special check-in counter at klia and returned to the way it was done in the past. this is an interesting move. no comment here as they have the right to do whatever they want. but this got me thinking…

every new management will want to undo what the old management did. this will normally be a message to the organization that they mean business (like previous management when they took control). same sh*t, different management to the people, its same old same old. they have seen ‘new management’ comes and go (like me) and this is nothing new.

cannot blame the staff for having a jaded feeling of being jerked around based on whim and fancy of the new boss. i am learning this lesson. in the future if i have the chance to lead, i will make sure this issue is addressed quickly.
