motivation

to instill a sense of meaning in what we do is important. it was observed that people with sense of meaning enjoys their work more thus are more productive and creative.

as a manager, i understand this phenom but sometimes, fail to use this to my advantage. sometimes, its easier to instruct the staff instead of explaining the reasons behind the direction. it takes a lot of effort to do this in real life.

lesson for me here is simple. individuals need to keep the illusion that what we do matters. this way, regardless of the benefits (salary or bonus), we will be happy.
